National Junior Honor Society

Ladue Middle School

General Information:

The National Junior Honor Society is an international organization for students
in middle school. It was founded in 1929 by the National Association of
Secondary Principals as a way to elevate a school’s commitment to the value
of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship.  Membership
in the organization not only recognizes students for their academic
accomplishments, but also challenges them to participate in various school
activities and engage in community service.

Students that meet the criteria for membership will be mailed an
application prior to the end of January in 7th Grade.

The criteria for membership at LMS includes:

  • A cumulative middle school grade point average of 3.8 or higher
  • At least 8 O’s in Citizenship for the first semester of 7th Grade
  • No I’s or U’s in Citizenship for the first semester of 7th Grade
  • No disciplinary assignments during the first semester of 7th Grade

*Students must meet all of these requirements in order to receive an Application/Candidate Form
and be eligible to apply.

Once a student receives the Application/Candidate Form they need to have
a minimum of 15 hours of community service, complete their Candidate Form
and return it to the Welcome Center by the due date.  However, the completion
of the Candidate Form/Application does not automatically guarantee admittance
into the National Junior Honor Society. All applications will be reviewed
by the Faculty Council. Those students selected will be formally welcomed
through an Induction Ceremony in the spring of their 7th Grade year.
