Fun Fall Events

We have had so many fun and meaningful events to celebrate so far this fall: Unity Day (October 23rd), Red Ribbon Week including Slam Dunk Drugs (October 28th-November 1st), and the Seventh Grade Party (November 7th).  The Class of 2025 seems to enjoy any opportunity to dress up for a cause (or just for fun).  A special thank you to the parents who helped Chaperone the party, our Red Ribbon Leaders for planning a fun week, and the Character Ed Committee for bringing Unity Day to LMS.

World Character Day 2019

Today LMS Students observed World Character Day.  We started our morning by watching a video called "30,000 Days" by Let It Ripple.  Afterwards, students shared and recorded their ideas about how they can shine a light on good character.  World Character Day unites millions of people each year from around the world while focusing on good character: strengths like empathy, grit, gratitude and leadership.  Research shows that character development leads not only to school and career success, but also to stronger, more engaged individuals and a more just world.  For more information about World Character Day (or to browse through the videos offered), please visit Let It Ripple Organization at https://www.letitripple.org/character-day/.

Red Ribbon Week Leaders

Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of escorting ten students to Red Ribbon Leader Training sponsored by the National Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (NCADA).  These leaders received information about a variety of drugs and their harmful short and long term effects along with other middle schoolers from around the St. Louis County region.  In addition, they began the process of planning for our Red Ribbon Week at LMS which is scheduled from October 28th-November 1st.  The National Theme for Red Ribbon this year is: Send a Message.  Stay Drug Free.  We look forward to seeing what activities our leaders plan for our school this year.

Great First Week at LMS

We had a wonderful first week back at LMS! The students were very excited and seemed happy to be back at school, meeting new teachers, and re-connecting with friends.  This coming week, I will be inviting our seventeen new seventh graders to have lunch with me and inviting them to bring a new friend as well.  Whether a returning student or a student that is brand new to LMS, it is very important for us as a staff to ensure everyone feels connected and part of our school community.

Welcome Back Class of 2025

I am very excited to be returning to Ladue School District as the Ladue Middle School Counselor for the Class of 2025.  This year marks my 10th year in Ladue School District and my 15th year in education.  I know we will have a great year together and look forward to helping each of my students grow this year.  If you should have any questions or concerns at any time, please contact me at abalsavias@ladueschools.net or at 314-983-5508.  It is going to be a great year at LMS!
